International Zebra Day Cards

An informal awareness day celebrated by conservation groups, zoos, wildlife organizations and zebra enthusiasts to highlight zebra species, their ecology and conservation needs. The observance promotes education about the three commonly recognized species (plains zebra, mountain zebra and the threatened Grevy's zebra), the ecological role of zebras, threats such as habitat loss, competition with livestock and poaching, and supports research into zebra biology (including stripe function hypotheses like camouflage, social recognition and parasite deterrence). It is not an officially recognized UN international day and has no single universally adopted date; activities and campaigns are organized by different groups at varying times.
